Why you should wait for the PS5
The Next Console of Sony: A real beast
Sony’s Next-Generation console will offer gamers a significant power boost, the PS5 is able to deliver graphics in 8k, it will feature Ray Tracing, a new, more immersive DualShock 5 controller, 4k Blu-ray Drive and a Solid State Drive (SSD) for super-quick load times of games. In addition, it is endowed with a powerful CPU and GPU, which are based on an AMD Ryzen 8-core.
Full Backwards Compatibility
The greatest upgrade that will come with the Playstation 5 is Backwards Compatibility with Playstation games, mainly those of the PS4. Therefore, if you choose to wait for the Next-Generation console, you will still be able to play anything you may have missed on the PS4 Pro.
An amazing catalog of confirmed and rumored PS5 games
With only a few months to go before its release, Sony’s next console is still as enigmatic as ever. Nevertheless, several games are already confirmed, when others are rumored. Let’s see what PS5 games you will enjoy if you wait and save enough money for these titles.

An attractive price
The reason why many people are confused and can’t decide whether they buy a ps4 pro or wait for ps5 is the price. Although no official price has been released yet, and rumors suggest that the console will be priced at the same level as the previous one ($399), a recent statement from a source puts its price at around $499. And when we know that the XBOX Scarlet, the Next-Generation from Microsoft, would be sold at 499€, the rumors seem to be confirmed.
In a recent interview for Wired, the PS5 Project Manager announced “the console would be sold at a reasonable price relative to its capabilities”, which would “appeal to players”.
So there is no reason to get a PS4 Pro. The price difference between both consoles will probably be around $150, and for the extra money, you will get a much more powerful Next-Generation console capable of running a wide range of exclusive games alongside your normal PS4 games.
And if you are that true gamer, who can’t wait about 6 months or more for the new console of Sony, then here are some good reasons to buy a PS4 Pro.
Why should you buy a PS4 Pro before the release of the PS5
You can’t decide whether you opt for PS4 pro or wait for PS5, let’s make it easier for you and let’s look at this dilemma from a logical perspective.
The PlayStation 4 Pro is a great console. not the most innovative one, but it ensured an increase in power and it was the first Sony console to offer 4K streaming as well as adding multiple upgrades when compared to the PS4 Slim. Therefore, we can say that the PS4 Pro is the optimal option for those who can’t wait for the PS5, those who want to play PlayStation games right now and who don’t mind paying more than $300 for this console.
A reminder of PS4 Pro’s specs:
- CPU: eight-core x86-64 AMD Jaguar
- GPU: AMD Radeon with 4.2 teraflops
- RAM: 8GB GDDR5
- Storage: 1TB HDD
- 4K streaming from Amazon and Netflix
- Native 4K gaming ( this is only possible for a few titles)
The PS4 Pro still has a lot of life in it
The birth of the PS5 does not mean the inevitable death of the PS4 Pro. Certainly, the new machine will offer unparalleled gaming comfort and performance. However, given the high prices at the launch of a console, only a minority of gamers will buy it on the day of its release. In addition, as indicated above, the list of games won’t be long enough to convince the players to buy the console, they will find themselves waiting for the release of new titles after a year or two.
If we buy the PS5, which supports Backwards Compatibility, to play PS4 games, then a PS4 Pro is the best option for now, until the release of new PS5 titles, which would be the perfect moment to buy the next-generation console of Sony.
Moreover and thanks to PS4 Pro, you will still be able to play great 4K games that will still be maintained and updated by their developers long after the release of PlayStation 5. And no need to worry, you’ll still find enough players online when you launch one of your competitive multiplayer games like Call Of Duty and others.
No console until the holiday seasons 2020? Is that right?
There’s more than a half-year period to wait before the release of PS5. It may not seem like much, but if you are a gamer, you might find it a very long time. And even though the PS5 is scheduled for release at the end of the year, we don’t know what unforeseen events could happen because of the spread of COVID-19… In addition, there are still a lot of games planned for the current generation of consoles.
The optimal decision
What should you do, get a PS4 pro or wait for PS5? If you decide to wait for the next-generation console to arrive, you’re likely to miss out on a lot of classic titles. Alternatively, you can buy the PS5 and use the backward compatibility to play PS4 games, but is it really worth it? Buying a new console to play the games of its predecessor is really pointless! You should know by now the best option to opt for. In the end, it all depends on your needs and your budget.
